Black is an elder in The United Methodist Church and Otto A. Piper Professor of Biblical Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. His research interests focus on the New Testament Gospels, but he has also published in the areas of biblical theology, New Testament rhetoric, and the history of biblical interpretation. He is the editor of the New Testament Library.
